She asked if I wanted a pistol, which was my cue to access my “on demand” handgun and shoot the snake. I'd love to report a perfect hit to the head, but given the readers of this blog are believers, let me say it continued to crawl. The homeowner then offered a pump shotgun that would allow me to practically cut the snake in half — and it continued to move. After a couple more rounds, the snake seemed to slow down. Finally, I used a hoe to drag it out of the shrubs and into the grass only to see more movement. There was only one thing left to do, use the hoe to remove the head, which I did. Of course, as any proud Grandpops would do, I took pics and sent it to my grandkids! While I've seen snakes before, I've never walked up on one so close and had to make a decision where one of us had to go!
Here’s where I’m going with this snake story. Samuel was ministering before the Lord and faithfully serving Eli, the old priest, judge and leader of God’s people. 1 Samuel 3 tells how Samuel heard the Lord commission him with these words: “Behold, I am about to do a thing in Israel at which both ears of everyone who hears it will tingle.” What an encounter with God to hear these life changing words! However, the reality was that Samuel was called to confront a culture of corruption in Israel fostered by none other than his immediate superior Eli.
As the American people approach November 6, 2018, a day many refer to as the mid-term elections, I prefer to see it as a day of a divine encounter! While all elections are significant, this one carries historical significance. We have seen God raising up a new type of leader in the United States. The recent Supreme Court nomination of Kavanaugh, the accusations against him, his strong defense of his integrity and his now being seated on the Court all signal we are in a “new era.” I salute a man who comes face to face with the highest level of hybrid spirits of political and spiritual evil whose agenda was to destroy not just his family, but a foundational principle America is built on. While many criticized his strong defense, I saw a new prototype leader emerging in our land — a man with the fortitude to confront a culture of corruption! Much like Samuel, the Ecclesia has been commissioned to confront a culture that was allowed to exist under a former regime. Like Samuel, the Ecclesia is coming face to face with what has now been flushed out of the hidden places and into the open.
Today, I decree the Ecclesia on November 6 will not only confront, but will remove the head of the accuser of the brethren, as well as America’s accuser, and all those who seek to interfere with the work that God has called it to do. It will be removed from office while “new era prototypical leaders” will be set into position! As with the snake, we must be willing to remove its head and finish our work of seeing America reformed!
