OBSERVATIONS ABOUT OUR ANNUAL FMCI CONFERENCE AND THE ELECTION
When we began, some 29 years ago, we usually conducted our annual FMCI conference in the fall of the year. This meant that our conference was going on in the height of the political season. The calendar served as a strong reminder for intercession for each election facing our nation. Many years ago, the ministries of Dr. Dutch Sheets and Dr. Don Crum inspired us to pray for our nation and to get involved in the political process. Later on, FMCI pioneered the International Leadership Embassy in Washington, DC. Under the leadership of Dr. Hope Taylor ILE became a force to equip FMCI and segments of body of Christ on how to engage the realm of civil government on the local, state, and national levels. As far as I can tell, we have never put politics ahead of prayer. However, we have seen informed intercession release strategies for political engagement. We are very proud of two long standing member pastors of FMCI who ran for mayor of their cities and won. Mr. Mayor Mike England in Morganton, GA, and Mr. Mayor Rob Duncan in Norwalk, Ohio. Other ministers in FMCI have counseled and prayed with several state governors and nationally known civil government leaders.
